78. Human-in-the-Loop Requirements

Human involvement shall be required where judgment, accountability, consent, professional qualification, or consequence exceeds the authorized autonomous scope.
Human review may be required for:
- Structural or life-safety decisions.
- Protected BIOS changes.
- Major configuration changes.
- Irreversible physical actions.
- High-cost commitments.
- Occupancy restrictions.
- Disclosure of sensitive information.
- Professional certification.
- Emergency decisions outside pre-approved procedures.
- Actions with unresolved material uncertainty.
Human participation shall be meaningful. The responsible person shall receive sufficient information to understand:
- The proposed action.
- Its basis.
- Expected benefits.
- Material risks.
- Uncertainty.
- Alternatives.
- Affected systems.
- Reversibility.
- Required response time.
A nominal approval button shall not satisfy human-in-the-loop requirements when the person lacks necessary context or realistic opportunity to reject the action.
