52. Routine Operations and Building Automation

The Building Operations AI Agent may perform routine automation within explicitly authorized operational envelopes.
Routine operations may include:
- Approved lighting schedules.
- Temperature setbacks.
- Ventilation scheduling.
- Water-heating schedules.
- Non-critical load coordination.
- Irrigation management.
- Shade or facade-device operation.
- Occupancy-mode transitions.
- Reminder generation.
- Equipment sequencing.
- Routine operational reporting.
Each automated function shall define:
- Permitted actions.
- Operating range.
- Required inputs.
- Excluded conditions.
- Maximum duration.
- Verification method.
- Manual override.
- Failure response.
- Logging requirements.
Deterministic building controls shall continue to perform functions for which predictable real-time behavior is required. The AI agent may coordinate, optimize, or adjust their authorized parameters, but it shall not replace certified control logic without applicable qualification.
Automation shall remain observable. Authorized users should be able to determine what the agent changed, why it changed it, and how to return to a previous safe setting.
