62. Building BIOS as the Operational Authority
The Building BIOS shall serve as the authoritative operational foundation of a System05 building. It shall define the approved configuration, recognized component identities, functional relationships, operating limits, permitted state transitions, control boundaries, safety constraints, and interfaces through which operational systems may interact with the building.
The Building BIOS shall establish:
- What is installed.
- Where it is installed.
- How components are connected.
- Which functions are available.
- Which dependencies exist.
- What operating ranges are approved.
- Which actions are permitted.
- Which actions require approval.
- Which systems are protected.
- What constitutes a valid configuration.
- What evidence supports the current approved state.
The Building BIOS shall remain distinct from both the Digital Twin and the Building AI Clone. The Digital Twin represents observed, measured, reported, inferred, and estimated physical conditions. The Building AI Clone interprets information and supports decisions. Neither shall independently redefine the approved building configuration.
Operational systems and agents shall use the Building BIOS to determine whether a proposed command is compatible with the building’s approved configuration. A physically possible action shall not be treated as authorized merely because a device can execute it.
Protected BIOS records shall be:
- Authenticated.
- Versioned.
- Access-controlled.
- Traceable.
- Recoverable.
- Validated before activation.
- Linked to supporting engineering evidence.
- Protected against unauthorized modification.
Where the observed building condition differs from the Building BIOS, the discrepancy shall be recorded and reconciled. The observed condition shall not silently overwrite the approved configuration, and the approved configuration shall not be falsely presented as the current physical condition.
