15. Reference Agent Architecture
The System05 Reference Agent Architecture defines the minimum functional structure required for a governed AI agent.
A conforming agent architecture should include:
- Identity and authentication.
- Agent Manifest.
- Role and objective definition.
- Capability declaration.
- Permission and authority controls.
- Context management.
- Memory management.
- Knowledge and retrieval services.
- Perception and input processing.
- Reasoning and planning.
- Policy and safety evaluation.
- Tool and action interfaces.
- Communication and coordination.
- Runtime monitoring.
- Audit and evidence recording.
- Human interaction and escalation.
- Lifecycle management.
Safety and permission evaluation shall occur before consequential actions are executed. Tool access shall be mediated through controlled interfaces rather than unrestricted access to building systems or engineering records.
The Reference Agent Architecture defines interoperable responsibilities and boundaries without requiring all agents to use the same internal AI model, software implementation, or infrastructure provider.
