50. Occupant Interaction and Natural-Language Interface

The Building Operations AI Agent should provide a clear natural-language interface through which authorized occupants can ask questions, report problems, request actions, and understand building conditions.
The interface may support:
- Spoken interaction.
- Text interaction.
- Mobile or wall-mounted interfaces.
- Accessible interaction modes.
- Multiple languages.
- Simplified explanations.
- Maintenance and emergency guidance.
- Status and consumption inquiries.
- Service requests.
- Preference changes.
The agent shall distinguish among:
- Information requests.
- Recommendations.
- Operational commands.
- Configuration-change requests.
- Emergency reports.
- Actions requiring approval.
Before consequential action, the agent shall confirm the requested outcome, affected system, relevant constraints, and authorization. Ambiguous language shall not be treated as approval for a hazardous or irreversible action.
The agent shall communicate uncertainty, system limitations, unavailable data, and unresolved risks in understandable language.
The interface shall not falsely represent the agent as a human professional, emergency responder, or regulatory authority. Where qualified assistance is necessary, the agent shall direct or escalate the user appropriately.
