35. Building and Occupant Onboarding

Building onboarding establishes the agent’s initial understanding of the physical asset, its systems, its operating responsibilities, and its authorized users.
Building onboarding should include:
- Importing the approved Building BIOS.
- Establishing the initial Digital Twin.
- Registering installed assets.
- Mapping Nodes, Cartridges, Interfaces, zones, and systems.
- Connecting authorized sensors and control systems.
- Importing commissioning and inspection records.
- Registering warranties and maintenance requirements.
- Defining operating schedules.
- Establishing escalation contacts.
- Identifying safety-critical and protected systems.
- Recording known deficiencies or temporary conditions.
Occupant onboarding shall establish how individuals may interact with the agent and what information or control rights they possess.
Occupant onboarding may include:
- Identity and role verification.
- Access and control permissions.
- Preferred interaction methods.
- Language preferences.
- Notification preferences.
- Comfort settings.
- Accessibility requirements.
- Privacy and consent settings.
- Emergency-assistance requirements.
- Shared-space rules.
- Procedures for correcting or deleting personal preferences.
The agent shall distinguish between owners, occupants, guests, maintenance personnel, emergency responders, facility managers, and other authorized roles.
An occupant’s preference shall not automatically override building-wide safety, health, energy, accessibility, lease, ownership, or regulatory requirements. Conflicts shall be explained and resolved through the applicable authority structure.
