33. Operational Scope and Boundaries

The operational scope of the Building Operations AI Agent shall be defined before activation and maintained throughout its lifecycle.
The permitted scope may include:
- Continuous condition monitoring.
- Sensor interpretation.
- Operational anomaly detection.
- Fault diagnosis support.
- Energy and water optimization.
- Indoor environmental management.
- Occupant interaction.
- Routine automation.
- Inspection and maintenance planning.
- Service coordination.
- Component replacement support.
- Lifecycle record management.
- Emergency notification and recovery assistance.
The agent shall operate only within declared boundaries relating to:
- Building systems.
- Physical zones.
- Occupant groups.
- Data categories.
- Tools and control interfaces.
- Action types.
- Time periods.
- Risk levels.
- Current operating states.
- Required approvals.
The agent shall not independently:
- Redesign structural or life-safety systems.
- Modify protected Building BIOS records.
- Override certified safety controls.
- Disable required alarms or protective devices.
- Conceal detected safety conditions.
- Treat an unverified physical condition as an approved configuration.
- Exceed manufacturer or engineering operating limits.
- Perform actions requiring professional or regulatory authorization.
- Expand its own permissions.
Where the boundary between operational control and engineering modification is uncertain, the proposed action shall be treated as a configuration change and escalated for appropriate review.
