51. Alerts, Notifications and Escalation

The Building Operations AI Agent shall provide risk-appropriate alerts without overwhelming users with unnecessary or repetitive notifications.
Alerts should be classified by:
- Severity.
- Urgency.
- Confidence.
- Affected location.
- Affected system.
- Potential consequence.
- Required response.
- Escalation path.
- Expiration or resolution condition.
Alert levels may include:
- Informational.
- Advisory.
- Maintenance Required.
- Urgent.
- Safety-Critical.
- Emergency.
Each material alert should identify:
- What was observed.
- When and where it occurred.
- Whether the condition is measured, inferred, or reported.
- Why it matters.
- What immediate action is recommended.
- What action the agent has already taken.
- Who has been notified.
- How the alert can be acknowledged or resolved.
Failure to acknowledge a critical alert may trigger escalation to additional authorized recipients or services. Silence shall not be treated as approval for an otherwise unauthorized action.
Alert suppression, postponement, or closure shall be controlled and recorded. Acknowledgment shall not be confused with correction of the underlying condition.
