Interface & Cartridge Architecture

An Experimental Interface permits controlled investigation of concepts not yet approved for general System05 use.

Experimental status shall be used when:

geometry is not finalized;

evidence is incomplete;

materials or mechanisms are novel;

interoperability has not been demonstrated;

lifecycle behavior is unknown;

software or robotic integration is under development;

safety limitations prevent unrestricted deployment.

Every Experimental Interface shall have a distinct identity that cannot be confused with a production interface.

Its documentation shall identify:

research objective;

responsible organization;

experimental configuration;

known assumptions;

unverified claims;

hazards and limitations;

permitted installation locations;

monitoring requirements;

inspection schedule;

operating period;

stop criteria;

emergency procedure;

removal or transition plan.

Experimental Interfaces shall not be installed in occupied or safety-critical applications unless authorized through an appropriate risk review and regulatory process.

Physical keying or access control may be required to prevent production Cartridges from being connected to an experimental interface.

All experimental failures, unexpected behavior, modifications, and negative results shall be recorded. Unsuccessful evidence is necessary for responsible platform evolution and shall not be selectively removed.

Progression from experimental to production status shall require:

stabilized interface definition;

resolved failure modes;

complete technical documentation;

required analysis and testing;

interoperability demonstration;

production-control plan;

certification where required;

governance approval.

An experimental interface shall not automatically become part of System05 because it has been publicly demonstrated or used in a pilot project.
