64. Evidence Requirements

Every compatibility, performance, conformance, and certification claim shall be supported by appropriate engineering evidence.
Evidence may include:
engineering calculations;
analytical models;
numerical simulation;
material certificates;
dimensional inspection;
laboratory testing;
field testing;
prototype observations;
manufacturing records;
quality-control records;
code evaluation;
independent engineering review;
operational monitoring;
inspection history;
recognized prior engineering experience.
The required evidence shall be determined by:
consequence of failure;
technical novelty;
uncertainty;
complexity;
manufacturing variability;
environmental exposure;
reversibility;
detectability of failure;
availability of recognized standards;
duration of intended service.
Evidence shall identify:
subject and configuration evaluated;
method;
assumptions;
boundary conditions;
equipment and software;
calibration;
sample selection;
uncertainty;
results;
deviations;
limitations;
author and reviewer;
date and version.
Evidence from a different material, geometry, capacity, manufacturing process, or operating environment shall not be transferred without a documented applicability assessment.
Simulation shall not automatically replace physical testing where failure behavior, contact, material variability, sealing, wear, or installation quality cannot be validated adequately through analysis alone.
Field experience may strengthen evidence but shall not be used to justify undocumented performance when exposure, configuration, or failures are unknown.
AI-generated analysis shall be marked as such and shall remain subject to verification appropriate to its consequence.
Evidence shall be preserved through the System05 Digital Thread and associated with the exact Type, Instance, version, Profile, and claim it supports.
