Interface & Cartridge Architecture

Commissioning is the documented process of verifying that the installed Cartridge, its interfaces, and its supporting systems perform according to the approved design.

Commissioning shall verify the actual installed condition rather than relying solely on factory certification.

The commissioning process shall include, as applicable:

confirmation of physical seating and orientation;

verification of primary and secondary locks;

confirmation of structural support;

inspection of seals and environmental barriers;

electrical grounding, polarity, continuity, insulation, and protection tests;

fluid pressure, leakage, flow, drainage, and isolation tests;

communication discovery and authentication;

verification of software and firmware versions;

capability negotiation;

sensor calibration or validation;

actuator and control testing;

alarm, interlock, and safe-state testing;

confirmation of Building BIOS and Digital Twin registration;

creation of operational baselines;

acceptance by the authorized commissioning party.

A Cartridge may be commissioned at several levels:

physical connection commissioned;

utility connection commissioned;

functional performance commissioned;

digital integration commissioned;

safety function commissioned;

Commissioning results shall be classified as:

accepted;

accepted with recorded limitations;

conditionally accepted pending corrective work;

rejected;

suspended for further investigation.

Any temporary limitation shall identify its duration, responsible party, affected capability, monitoring requirement, and closure condition.

The baseline commissioning record shall be preserved for comparison with future inspection and operational data.
