- 20. Interface Identification
- Every System05 interface shall possess both a Type Identity and an Instance Identity.
The Type Identity identifies the standardized interface definition to which the interface claims conformance. The Instance Identity identifies the individual physical or digital interface installed on a specific component.
The minimum Interface Type Identity shall include:
System05 interface-family code;
interface domain or combination of domains;
geometry or form-factor class;
capacity class;
compatibility profile;
safety-criticality class;
environmental class;
protocol version;
revision status;
lifecycle classification.
The minimum Interface Instance Identity shall include:
globally unique serial identifier;
manufacturer identity;
product and model identity;
manufacturing batch or lot;
manufacturing date;
component identity;
interface location on the component;
applicable Type Identity;
certification status;
current configuration;
current lifecycle state.
Identification shall be available in coordinated forms appropriate to the interface:
human-readable text;
durable machine-readable marking;
digital record;
network identity for active interfaces;
geometric or visual marker for robotic interfaces.
A physical identification marker may use a Data Matrix, QR-type code, RFID, NFC, embedded electronic identity, geometric marker, or an approved combination. Safety-critical identification shall not depend upon a single removable label.
The physical marker shall be located within a controlled Identification Region defined by the Interface Control Drawing. It shall remain accessible during installation, inspection, maintenance, and replacement to the extent required by the lifecycle plan.
When an interface is scanned, the local or connected system shall be able to retrieve at least:
interface type and version;
permitted mating classes;
declared capabilities;
operating limits;
installation instructions;
safety warnings;
certification and evidence references;
current status;
maintenance and inspection history.
Physical form shall provide immediate differentiation where incorrect connection could create danger. Digital identification shall supplement physical keying rather than replace it.
An unreadable or unverifiable identifier shall place the interface in an Unverified Identity state. Safety-critical connection or energization shall not proceed until identity has been recovered or independently verified through an authorized procedure.
The exact identifier syntax, global registry structure, marking technology, minimum marking durability, and offline data package remain TBD.
