Section 38 of 83
37. Functional Cartridge
Stable section ID: S05-CON-005-SECTION-38 · 43 content blocks
A Functional Cartridge performs a defined building or occupant function while connecting to the System05 platform through standardized interfaces.
Examples include:
kitchen service panels;
bathroom service panels;
ventilation units;
lighting modules;
storage systems;
façade modules;
acoustic-control modules;
environmental treatment units;
access-control equipment;
communication modules;
specialized room-service panels.
A Functional Cartridge may combine physical structure, utilities, equipment, controls, finishes, and digital services within a replaceable assembly.
The Cartridge shall declare:
the primary function;
required host support;
required utilities;
physical service area;
human-access conditions;
output capacity;
environmental requirements;
noise, vibration, and heat generation;
maintenance access;
consumables;
expected service life;
failure behavior.
Functional Cartridges shall be replaceable without unnecessary alteration of the surrounding building where that replaceability forms part of their declared value.
Where a Functional Cartridge connects to several utility domains, each connection shall remain separately isolatable or shall follow a coordinated safe-disconnection sequence.
A kitchen Cartridge, for example, might require:
structural support;
potable hot and cold water;
wastewater connection;
electrical power;
lighting power;
data;
ventilation;
leak detection;
fire protection;
human access;
- finish continuity.
- The Cartridge shall not be marked “connected” until all required domains have been independently verified.
- Functional form-factor families and building-zone layouts remain TBD.
