32. Universal Cartridge Model

The Universal Cartridge Model represents every Cartridge as a controlled assembly situated between a host system and one or more served systems.
The basic model contains:
Host: the building, Node, frame, panel, service rail, utility backbone, or other system receiving the Cartridge;
Cartridge: the replaceable assembly performing adaptation or functionality;
Served Component or Environment: the member, device, room, occupant, utility branch, or external system receiving the Cartridge’s output;
Host-Side Interface: the standardized interface connecting the Cartridge to permanent infrastructure;
Service-Side Interface: the interface connecting the Cartridge to the component or function it serves;
Internal Translation Layer: the mechanisms that transfer, convert, isolate, regulate, measure, or control interactions between the two sides.
The simplest Cartridge has one Host-Side Interface and one Service-Side Interface. More complex Cartridges may contain multiple interfaces, provided that every interface and dependency is explicitly represented.
Examples include:
an End Cartridge with one material-specific member interface and one universal Node interface;
a plumbing Cartridge with hot-water, cold-water, wastewater, electrical, data, and wall-mounting interfaces;
a sensor Cartridge with power and data on the host side and environmental exposure on the service side;
a Hybrid Cartridge transferring structural load while also carrying power, data, and sensing functions.
Every Cartridge shall have a defined local coordinate system. Interface locations, orientation, installation direction, center of mass, lifting points, service envelopes, and exclusion zones shall reference this coordinate system.
The Cartridge model shall declare:
external dimensions and controlled geometry;
mass and center of gravity;
mounting and support conditions;
input capabilities and requirements;
output capabilities;
internal dependencies;
normal and abnormal states;
environmental limits;
inspection points;
replaceable subcomponents;
required tools;
installation and removal sequence;
safe state;
design service life;
storage and transportation requirements.
A Cartridge shall not depend upon undocumented features of the host. All load support, energy supply, communication, sealing, grounding, drainage, cooling, access, and environmental protection required from the host shall be declared.
The host shall likewise not assume undeclared Cartridge capabilities.
A Universal Cartridge does not imply one universal physical size. System05 may define multiple standardized Cartridge Form-Factor Families based on function, capacity, location, and service envelope.
Form-factor dimensions, mass classes, preferred interface locations, and capacity series remain TBD until representative Cartridges are physically designed and tested.
