Interface & Cartridge Architecture

An Interface Event is a time-stamped record of an action, transition, observation, command, or abnormal condition affecting an interface.

Events shall include, as applicable:

identity scanned;

compatibility check initiated;

compatibility accepted or rejected;

approach started;

contact detected;

alignment achieved;

seating achieved;

lock activated;

lock verified;

seal test completed;

electrical continuity verified;

pressure test completed;

authentication completed;

capabilities negotiated;

commissioning accepted;

operation started or stopped;

limit exceeded;

fault detected;

emergency isolation activated;

maintenance started or completed;

component released;

interface disconnected;

configuration changed;

certification expired;

inspection due;

decommissioning completed.

Each event record shall include:

event identifier;

event type;

timestamp;

interface Instance Identity;

related component identities;

previous and resulting state;

initiating person, machine, component, or service;

relevant measured values;

evidence reference;

location;

configuration and software version;

outcome;

unresolved actions.

Events shall distinguish between a Command Event and a Verified Physical Event. A command to lock, isolate, or disconnect shall not be recorded as successful completion unless the resulting condition has been confirmed.

Safety-critical events shall be retained locally when necessary for continued operation and synchronized with the authoritative Digital Thread when communication becomes available.

Event records shall be immutable after acceptance. Corrections shall be made through traceable superseding records rather than silent editing.

The formal event taxonomy and data-retention requirements remain TBD.
