Interface & Cartridge Architecture

Operation begins when a Cartridge has been commissioned and authorized to perform its declared function.

The Cartridge shall operate only within the intersection of:

its certified capabilities;

the host’s available capabilities;

the negotiated interface limits;

the project-design requirements;

the applicable Engineering Profile;

its current condition;

any temporary operational restrictions.

Operational monitoring shall be proportional to function and criticality. A passive, low-risk Cartridge may require periodic inspection only. A safety-critical, structural, fluid, or intelligent Cartridge may require continuous monitoring.

Operational records may include:

active state;

load or utilization;

energy consumption;

pressure and flow;

temperature;

connection cycles;

operating hours;

environmental exposure;

alarms and faults;

software changes;

manual overrides;

degradation indicators.

The Cartridge shall not report unsupported precision or certainty. Measurements and calculated conditions shall carry applicable units, timestamps, quality indicators, calibration status, and uncertainty.

If operating conditions exceed declared limits, the Cartridge or supervising system shall respond according to the applicable Interface Contract. Response may include:

warning;

reduced capacity;

transition to degraded operation;

controlled shutdown;

isolation;

emergency action;

request for inspection.

A Cartridge shall not automatically return from a critical fault to normal operation solely because the initiating signal disappears. Required inspection or fault-clearance procedures shall be completed.

Operational changes affecting building configuration shall be communicated to the Building BIOS and reflected in the Digital Twin.
