26. Compatibility Verification

Compatibility Verification determines whether the proposed connection is permitted in its actual configuration and intended use.
Verification shall evaluate at least the following layers:
Identity Compatibility The declared interface types and versions are recognized and authentic.
Geometric Compatibility Datums, mating geometry, orientation, clearances, tolerances, and envelopes are compatible.
Mechanical Compatibility Engagement, locking, preload, movement, wear, and release requirements are compatible.
Structural Compatibility Required loads, stiffness, deformation, ductility, and failure behavior fall within verified limits.
Material Compatibility Contact materials do not create unacceptable corrosion, chemical reaction, wear, contamination, or differential movement.
Electrical Compatibility Voltage, current, frequency, polarity, grounding, protection, and connector configuration are compatible.
Fluid Compatibility Fluid type, pressure, temperature, flow, seal, cleanliness, and material requirements are compatible.
Thermal and Environmental Compatibility Temperature, moisture, dust, water, corrosion, UV, vibration, and exposure classifications are compatible.
Data Compatibility Protocols, schemas, units, addressing, timing, and versions are mutually supported.
Control Compatibility Command authority, operating modes, interlocks, priorities, and failure responses are compatible.
Safety Compatibility Safety classification, isolation, emergency behavior, and required protective functions are satisfied.
Lifecycle Compatibility Inspection, maintenance, replacement, access, service-life, and decommissioning strategies are compatible.
Verification shall produce one of the following results:
Compatible: all applicable requirements are satisfied;
Compatible with Restrictions: connection is permitted subject to recorded limitations;
Conditionally Compatible: additional action or evidence is required;
Incompatible: connection is prohibited;
Indeterminate: available information is insufficient.
Adapters shall not automatically establish compatibility. Every adapter introduces two interfaces and shall be independently assessed, identified, certified, and recorded.
The final verification record shall be attached to the connected interface instances in the Digital Thread.
