Section 55 of 83
54. Reuse and Recycling
Stable section ID: S05-CON-005-SECTION-55 · 48 content blocks
System05 shall prioritize lifecycle pathways according to retained engineering and material value.
The preferred hierarchy is:
continued use in the existing location;
maintenance or repair;
upgrade;
direct reuse in another compatible location;
refurbishment and recertification;
reuse of subcomponents;
remanufacturing;
material recycling;
energy recovery where appropriate;
- controlled disposal as the final option.
- A removed Cartridge shall not be automatically approved for reuse merely because it appears undamaged.
Reuse qualification shall consider:
identity and traceability;
original certification;
operating history;
load and environmental exposure;
connection-cycle count;
fault and maintenance history;
material degradation;
remaining service life;
software and cybersecurity support;
current interface version;
compatibility with the proposed new host;
applicable current regulations.
A reusable Cartridge shall undergo inspection, testing, and, where necessary, refurbishment. Its status shall identify whether it is:
approved for direct reuse;
approved with reduced capacity;
approved after refurbishment;
restricted to non-critical use;
suitable only for parts recovery;
suitable only for material recycling;
unsuitable for further use.
Refurbishment shall preserve the original Instance Identity and add a traceable refurbishment record. If reconstruction is extensive enough to create a materially different product, the registration authority shall determine whether a new identity is required.
The Cartridge Material Passport shall identify:
material types and approximate quantities;
hazardous or controlled substances;
coatings and adhesives;
separable assemblies;
reusable subcomponents;
recycling pathways;
disassembly instructions;
contamination precautions;
recovery limitations.
Cartridges shall be designed for practical separation of high-value or hazardous materials. Permanent bonding of incompatible materials should be avoided where reversible attachment can provide equivalent engineering performance.
Recycled material content shall not be assumed equivalent to recovered material value. System05 shall consider the quality, purity, traceability, and future usefulness of recovered materials.
Final recycling or disposal shall be recorded so that the Cartridge’s lifecycle status is complete and it cannot re-enter the market under an invalid certification or identity.
