Interface & Cartridge Architecture

The Cartridge Digital Passport is the persistent digital record describing the identity, engineering definition, composition, configuration, condition, and lifecycle history of a Cartridge.

The Passport shall include two coordinated layers:

Type Passport: authoritative information common to all products of the same approved type;

Instance Passport: information specific to an individual manufactured Cartridge.

The Passport shall contain or reference:

identity and registration;

manufacturer and manufacturing origin;

classification;

Digital Interface Descriptors;

materials and subcomponents;

Capability Declaration;

certification and evidence;

manufacturing and factory-test records;

installation and commissioning history;

host and location history;

operational state and applicable limits;

inspection and maintenance records;

faults, repairs, and modifications;

firmware and configuration history;

remaining-life assessments;

disconnection and replacement records;

reuse qualification;

recycling and hazardous-material information.

Access shall be controlled by role. Public compatibility and safety information may be broadly available, while security-sensitive configuration, personal data, proprietary manufacturing information, and control credentials shall have restricted access.

The Passport shall preserve provenance. Manufacturer claims, certification findings, inspector observations, sensor measurements, and AI inferences shall remain distinguishable.

Essential safety, isolation, and identification information shall remain available through a local or offline mechanism when required.

The Passport shall follow the Cartridge rather than remain permanently attached to one building record. When the Cartridge moves, the new host relationship shall be added without deleting the previous history.
