9. Universal Interface Model
The Universal Interface Model defines the minimum technical structure required to describe any connection or interaction within System05. Structural joints, utility couplings, electrical connectors, data ports, removable panels, software services, human controls, and robotic engagement points shall all be represented through this common model.
A System05 interface consists of two or more Interface Sides connected through a controlled Interaction Zone. Each Interface Side belongs to a defined component and exposes specified capabilities, requirements, limits, and responsibilities.
The minimum interface model consists of:
Interface Identity A globally unique identifier distinguishing the interface type and the individual physical instance.
Interface Side The component-specific portion participating in the interaction. Each side shall be independently identifiable.
Reference Coordinate System A defined origin, X-Y-Z axes, orientation, reference planes, and primary, secondary, and tertiary datums.
Interaction Zone The physical or logical volume within which engagement, transfer, movement, communication, or servicing occurs.
Approach Envelope The unobstructed space required to bring a component, person, tool, or robot toward the interface.
Service Envelope The space required for inspection, testing, maintenance, replacement, and emergency access.
Exclusion Zone A region that shall remain free of conflicting components, finishes, fasteners, utilities, or human occupancy.
Transferred Functions The forces, movement, electrical power, fluids, heat, data, control commands, or safety functions exchanged across the boundary.
Connection Mechanism The mechanism used for alignment, engagement, retention, locking, sealing, energization, authentication, and release.
Interface State The current verified condition of the interface, such as disconnected, aligned, engaged, locked, commissioned, operational, degraded, isolated, faulted, or decommissioned.
Compatibility Class The group of components capable of interacting under a specified profile and set of operating limits.
Evidence Package The calculations, drawings, models, test results, certificates, inspection records, and configuration data supporting compliance.
Every physical interface shall have a defined Interface Control Drawing, or ICD. The ICD shall show the geometry controlled by System05 while distinguishing it from manufacturer-controlled internal geometry.
At minimum, the ICD shall include:
interface datums and coordinate system;
mating surfaces and controlled dimensions;
permissible geometric deviations;
approach, service, and exclusion envelopes;
engagement direction;
location and form of alignment features;
locking and release points;
tooling and robotic access;
transferred load, power, fluid, or data locations;
inspection features;
identification-marker locations;
environmental sealing boundaries;
prohibited interference regions.
The universal model does not require all interfaces to use identical geometry. It establishes a consistent method for defining different interface families.
No component shall be declared compatible merely because its physical shape fits another component. Compatibility shall require agreement across every active domain, including capacity, materials, tolerances, environmental class, safety class, version, communication behavior, and lifecycle conditions.
Exact universal dimensions, datum geometry, coding formats, and compatibility-class syntax remain TBD and shall be established through subordinate System05 specifications after reference interfaces are designed and tested.
