65. Digital Interface Descriptor
The Digital Interface Descriptor, or DID, is the authoritative machine-readable representation of a System05 interface.
The DID shall enable design tools, the Engineering Compiler, Building BIOS, Digital Twins, manufacturing systems, inspection tools, AI services, and robots to interpret the interface without relying solely upon drawings or unstructured text.
The DID shall contain:
Interface Type and Instance IDs;
specification and version;
classification;
coordinate system and datums;
controlled geometry references;
approach, service, and exclusion envelopes;
mating and compatibility rules;
engagement and release directions;
locking mechanisms;
transferred functions;
Capability Declaration;
operating and environmental limits;
state model;
permitted state transitions;
event definitions;
fault behavior;
safety requirements;
inspection and maintenance requirements;
required evidence references;
applicable Profiles;
cybersecurity attributes.
Geometry may be represented by a combination of semantic parameters and referenced controlled models. A raw CAD file alone shall not constitute a complete DID because geometry without functional meaning cannot communicate load paths, datums, prohibited zones, states, or responsibilities.
The DID shall distinguish between:
mandatory fields;
optional standardized fields;
conditional fields;
manufacturer extensions;
unknown or unsupported fields.
Digital signatures or equivalent trust mechanisms shall protect the authenticity and integrity of approved descriptors.
DID schemas shall be versioned and extensible. Unsupported critical fields shall cause compatibility verification to stop rather than be silently ignored.
The final schema language, file format, geometry representation, and signature mechanism remain TBD.
