3. Interface Constitutional Principles

All System05 interfaces shall comply with the constitutional principles established by the System05 Engineering Platform Constitution.
Every interface shall possess a defined purpose. No interface shall be introduced without identifying the engineering function, lifecycle value, and system relationships that justify its existence.
Every interface shall be explicitly documented. Critical interaction conditions shall not depend upon hidden information, undocumented workmanship, proprietary installation knowledge, or assumptions that cannot be independently verified.
Every interface shall have an identifiable boundary. The responsibilities of each connected component shall be distinguishable so that design, manufacturing, installation, inspection, maintenance, and failure accountability can be assigned without ambiguity.
Every interface shall protect interoperability. Products claiming compliance with the same interface specification and compatibility class shall be capable of interacting without unauthorized modification, provided that their declared capabilities, versions, profiles, and operating conditions are compatible.
Every interface shall support independent verification. Compatibility and conformance shall be demonstrated through appropriate evidence such as calculation, simulation, dimensional inspection, testing, certification, digital validation, field observation, or a recognized combination of evidence classes.
Every safety-critical interface shall fail predictably. Failure behavior, safe states, residual capacity, fault containment, emergency isolation, and recovery requirements shall be defined in proportion to the associated risk.
Every interface shall support traceability. Its identity, specification, version, compatibility class, participating components, installation record, inspection history, modifications, failures, and lifecycle events shall be connected to the System05 Digital Thread.
Every interface shall be version-controlled. Changes affecting geometry, performance, communication, safety, installation, tooling, or compatibility shall be documented and evaluated for backward and forward compatibility.
Every interface shall be accessible to the degree required for its inspection, maintenance, release, and replacement strategy. Concealed interfaces shall require explicit engineering justification and suitable alternative inspection or monitoring provisions.
Every interface shall be robot-ready wherever technically and economically reasonable. Geometry, approach paths, alignment features, gripping provisions, orientation indicators, identification markers, locking mechanisms, verification features, and safe release procedures shall consider automated interaction.
Every interface shall maintain technology neutrality at the constitutional level. A specification may establish required performance and interaction behavior without unnecessarily restricting the internal technology used to achieve that behavior.
Every interface shall minimize irreversible dependency. Components with different expected service lives should not be permanently integrated where a practical replaceable interface can preserve safety, affordability, and lifecycle value.
Every interface shall respect regional engineering authority. Universal System05 requirements shall operate together with applicable laws, codes, environmental conditions, materials, manufacturing capabilities, and approved Regional Engineering Profiles.
No interface may claim System05 compliance solely because its physical geometry appears compatible. Compliance requires satisfaction of all applicable physical, functional, digital, safety, lifecycle, documentation, evidence, and governance requirements.
