4. Definition of a Robot-Ready Building

A Robot-Ready Building is a building whose physical components, interfaces, information structures, assembly processes, access provisions, and lifecycle records have been designed to support safe and predictable robotic interaction without making robotic operation mandatory.
A Robot-Ready Building should provide, where applicable:
- Machine-readable component and assembly identities.
- Stable coordinate systems and physical datums.
- Recognizable orientation features.
- Defined robotic access faces.
- Approved approach and withdrawal directions.
- Grasping, lifting, and handling features.
- Payload and center-of-mass information.
- Coarse and fine alignment geometry.
- Temporary capture mechanisms.
- Machine-operable or machine-verifiable locks.
- Accessible fastening and joining points.
- Reserved Tool Corridors and work envelopes.
- Defined intermediate assembly states.
- Temporary support and bracing provisions.
- Machine-readable assembly and disassembly instructions.
- Inspection checkpoints.
- Physical state indicators.
- Safe-stop and recovery conditions.
- Building BIOS and Digital Twin integration.
- Human-readable alternatives and manual procedures.
Robot readiness shall be capability-specific. A building may be robot-ready for inspection and maintenance without being qualified for autonomous structural assembly. A component may support robotic handling while still requiring human fastening or verification.
The existence of a marker, lifting point, digital model, or robotic access feature shall not by itself establish complete robot readiness. The relevant geometry, tolerances, instructions, safety controls, evidence requirements, authority boundaries, and recovery procedures shall also be defined.
Robot readiness shall be declared through documented profiles and shall remain subject to verification.
