16. Robot-Ready Physical Architecture
The Robot-Ready Physical Architecture defines how System05 buildings expose predictable, safe, and verifiable physical conditions for machine interaction.
Robot readiness shall be incorporated into:
- Component geometry.
- Interface geometry.
- Access faces.
- Datum surfaces.
- Identification features.
- Grasping and lifting points.
- Alignment mechanisms.
- Capture mechanisms.
- Locks and fasteners.
- Utility connectors.
- Tool-access volumes.
- Temporary-support points.
- Inspection access.
- Removal pathways.
The architecture shall reduce dependence on unstructured perception and excessive robotic dexterity. Wherever practical, physical geometry should guide the robot toward correct orientation, alignment, engagement, and locking.
Components shall be designed so that incorrect assembly is physically prevented, clearly detectable, or both. Machine interaction should proceed through distinct and observable states such as:
- Identified.
- Approached.
- Grasped.
- Lifted.
- Coarsely aligned.
- Finely aligned.
- Temporarily captured.
- Finally locked.
- Inspected.
- Released for load or service.
The architecture shall accommodate dimensional variation, surface condition, construction deflection, sensor uncertainty, and environmental effects. Nominal geometry alone shall not be treated as sufficient for robotic execution.
Robot-ready features should be useful to human installers and conventional tools wherever practical. The physical architecture shall not create unnecessary cost or complexity for projects that initially use little or no automation.
