31. Utility Connection and Disconnection

Robotic utility interaction shall use interfaces designed to prevent incorrect, unsafe, or incomplete connection.
Utilities may include:
- Electrical power.
- Data.
- Water.
- Drainage.
- Gas.
- Refrigerant.
- Ventilation.
- Hydraulic fluid.
- Pneumatic service.
- Thermal loops.
- Fire-protection services.
Utility Interfaces should provide:
- Physical keying.
- Type and rating identification.
- Orientation control.
- Protected contacts.
- Controlled engagement.
- Isolation before connection or disconnection.
- Connection-state indication.
- Leak or continuity testing.
- Strain relief.
- Contamination protection.
- Manual emergency access.
The required sequence may include:
- Verify utility identity.
- Verify isolation.
- Inspect connector condition.
- Align mechanical features.
- Establish mechanical capture.
- Engage the utility connection.
- Lock the connector.
- Perform continuity, pressure, leak, or communication testing.
- Authorize energization.
- Verify operational state.
Blind-mate connections may be used only where alignment, sealing, ratings, inspection, and failure behavior are appropriately controlled.
