14. Vendor Neutrality and Open Robotic Ecosystem

System05 shall support an open, competitive, and vendor-neutral robotic ecosystem.
Compatibility shall not depend unnecessarily on:
- A single robot manufacturer.
- A proprietary controller.
- A specific end effector.
- A closed machine-vision platform.
- A single AI provider.
- A mandatory cloud service.
- An inaccessible data format.
- Undocumented privileged interfaces.
System05 robotic specifications should define observable requirements such as:
- Geometry.
- Coordinate systems.
- Access envelopes.
- Load limits.
- Tool classes.
- Communication protocols.
- Command states.
- Safety conditions.
- Evidence requirements.
- Error responses.
- Compatibility versions.
Manufacturers may implement these requirements through different internal technologies, provided conformance can be objectively verified.
Third-party developers should be able to produce compatible:
- Robots.
- Grippers.
- Lifting tools.
- Fastening tools.
- Inspection systems.
- Adapters.
- Controllers.
- Planning software.
- Simulation environments.
- Maintenance robots.
Owners shall retain access to authoritative building data and shall be able to replace a robotic provider without losing essential configuration, identity, inspection, maintenance, or execution records.
Proprietary innovation may exist behind documented interfaces. Vendor neutrality does not require every implementation to be open source; it requires that essential interoperability not depend on concealed or exclusive control.
