2. Robotics Philosophy

System05 treats robotics as an architectural consideration rather than an external technology added after a building or component has already been designed.
Traditional construction robots are often required to adapt to inconsistent geometry, inaccessible connections, variable materials, undocumented conditions, and processes developed exclusively for human labor. System05 shall reduce these barriers by designing the building, its components, and its information architecture for predictable machine interaction.
The System05 Robotics Philosophy is based on the following propositions:
- Buildings should expose stable and machine-recognizable interaction points.
- Components should communicate their identity, orientation, handling requirements, and compatibility.
Interfaces should provide guided alignment, temporary capture, final locking, inspection access, and controlled release.
- Robotic tasks should be defined through structured and verifiable work packages.
- Physical completion should be established by evidence rather than assumed from command completion.
Robots should execute authorized engineering instructions and should not independently redefine engineering requirements.
- Human installation and maintenance should remain possible when robots are unavailable.
- Robotic systems should reduce dangerous, repetitive, heavy, high-precision, and ergonomically difficult work.
- Automation should be introduced only where it creates justified lifecycle value.
- The architecture should remain open to multiple robot, tool, sensor, and software providers.
System05 shall not measure technological progress merely by the removal of people from construction. Progress shall be measured by improvements in safety, affordability, repeatability, quality, traceability, maintainability, accessibility, and lifecycle performance.
