28. Insertion and Removal Architecture

System05 Interfaces shall define controlled insertion and removal pathways where components are intended to be installed, replaced, or upgraded.
The applicable specification shall identify:
- Insertion direction.
- Withdrawal direction.
- Required clearance.
- Orientation.
- Maximum engagement force.
- Maximum withdrawal force.
- Intermediate positions.
- Alignment features.
- Capture points.
- Locking sequence.
- Utility-disconnection sequence.
- Temporary support requirements.
- Obstruction limits.
- Inspection checkpoints.
Insertion shall not require uncontrolled impact, excessive force, or inaccessible correction. Unexpected resistance may indicate misalignment, obstruction, incompatible versions, deformation, contamination, or an active lock.
Removal shall account for:
- Existing loads.
- Stored energy.
- Connected utilities.
- Adjacent components.
- Seal adhesion.
- Corrosion.
- Finish interference.
- Temporary supports.
- Occupant protection.
- Material condition.
A robot shall not initiate removal until the component has been unloaded and isolated as required. The release of a lock shall not automatically imply that the component is safe to withdraw.
Where complete removal is not possible through the original insertion direction, the alternate lifecycle procedure shall be documented before installation.
