Section 37 of 55
36. Clearance, Reach and Work Envelopes
Stable section ID: S05-CON-011-SECTION-37 · 25 content blocks
Every robotic operation shall have a defined three-dimensional work envelope appropriate to the robot, tool, component, task, and environmental conditions.
The required envelope may include:
- Robot base location.
- Mobile-platform path.
- Manipulator reach.
- Component approach path.
- Tool Corridor.
- Gripper clearance.
- Camera visibility.
- Cable and hose sweep.
- Component rotation volume.
- Human exclusion distance.
- Emergency retreat path.
- Temporary-support space.
- Removed-component extraction path.
Work envelopes shall consider both nominal and failure conditions. A swaying load, localization error, emergency stop, tool deflection, or component release may require greater clearance than ordinary motion.
System05 design records should distinguish:
- Permanently reserved access.
- Construction-only access.
- Maintenance access.
- Inspection access.
- Emergency access.
- Conditionally removable obstruction.
Later-installed finishes, services, equipment, or furnishings shall not block required lifecycle access without an approved alternative.
The robot shall verify that the actual work zone remains sufficiently clear before movement. A digitally reserved envelope shall not be treated as physically clear without appropriate observation or inspection.
