91. Robotic Safety Philosophy
Robotic safety within System05 shall be treated as a property of the complete cyber-physical construction system, not as a feature of the robot alone.
The safety architecture shall consider the combined behavior of:
- The robot and mobile platform.
- Controllers and safety systems.
- Tools and end effectors.
- Components and payloads.
- Temporary supports.
- Building geometry and structural state.
- Utilities and stored energy.
- Workers, occupants, visitors, and emergency responders.
- Software, communications, Digital Twin, Building BIOS, and work packages.
- Weather and dynamic site conditions.
Protection of human life, public safety, structural integrity, and controlled physical state shall take precedence over productivity, schedule, energy efficiency, equipment protection, or robotic autonomy.
System05 shall apply a hierarchy of controls. Hazards should first be eliminated through component, Interface, task, and site design. Remaining risks should be reduced through physical guards, inherently safe mechanisms, safety-rated controls, sensing, restricted operating modes, procedures, training, and personal protective measures.
No single sensor, AI model, cloud service, network connection, or human reaction shall be assumed to provide complete protection against a high-consequence hazard.
Safety assumptions, limitations, residual risks, required human roles, and recovery procedures shall be explicitly documented. Absence of a detected hazard shall not be treated as proof that the operating condition is safe.
