Critical characteristics shall be distinguished from noncritical features so that production effort is concentrated where it creates engineering value.
Manufacturability shall be considered across prototype, pilot, low-volume, and scalable production. A geometry suitable for additive prototyping may require redesign before economical series production.
The Design Authority and Manufacturing Authority shall review manufacturability together. Manufacturing feedback may propose design changes but shall not silently redefine engineering intent.
A product shall not receive industrialization release until its intended processes, resources, controls, inspections, evidence, and foreseeable failure modes have been evaluated.
