15. Manufacturing States, Events and State Transitions

System05 shall define manufacturing as a controlled sequence of states, events, and authorized transitions.
Representative product states may include:
- Defined.
- planned.
- authorized for production.
- material allocated.
- in production.
- awaiting inspection.
- accepted at operation.
- nonconforming.
- contained.
- approved for rework.
- reworked.
- awaiting final release.
- released.
- packaged.
- shipped.
- recalled.
- retired or scrapped.
Representative events may include:
- Production-order issue.
- material receipt.
- setup approval.
- operation completion.
- inspection result.
- nonconformance detection.
- concession approval.
- rework completion.
- release authorization.
- packaging.
- shipment.
- recall.
- destruction.
Transitions shall identify:
- Preconditions.
- authorized actor.
- required evidence.
- prohibited conditions.
- resulting state.
- time and identity.
- reversal or recovery rules.
Software status shall not silently override physical reality. If a product is digitally recorded as released but remains physically nonconforming, the discrepancy shall be treated as a controlled incident.
A transition shall not be completed when mandatory evidence is missing, invalid, expired, or associated with the wrong configuration.
Manual overrides shall be limited, authorized, recorded, and reviewable.
A nonconforming product shall not return to a conforming state merely because the nonconformance record was closed. The physical disposition—rework, repair, use-as-is approval, return, or scrap—shall be completed and verified.
State histories shall remain auditable and shall support reconstruction of significant production decisions.
