18. Human, Machine, Robot and AI Production Roles

System05 shall support coordinated production by humans, machines, robots, software, and AI while preserving clear responsibility and authority.
Humans may perform:
- Engineering judgment.
- process planning.
- setup.
- manual production.
- inspection.
- maintenance.
- exception handling.
- approval.
- supervision.
- recovery.
- final release.
Machines and robots may perform:
- Material handling.
- positioning.
- cutting.
- forming.
- joining.
- assembly.
- measurement.
- inspection.
- marking.
- packaging.
- repetitive or hazardous operations.
AI may assist with:
- Manufacturability analysis.
- process selection.
- scheduling.
- parameter recommendation.
- anomaly detection.
- predictive maintenance.
- quality forecasting.
- inspection interpretation.
- root-cause analysis.
- production optimization.
AI-generated recommendations shall identify relevant inputs, assumptions, uncertainty, and applicable limits where consequence warrants.
An AI system shall not independently approve its own safety-critical output, expand its permissions, conceal uncertainty, alter protected acceptance criteria, or release consequential products unless a future governed profile explicitly authorizes a bounded function with appropriate verification.
Human involvement shall be meaningful. A nominal approval step shall not be used when the person lacks adequate information, time, competence, or authority to evaluate the decision.
Robotic and automated processes shall provide safe states, interruption behavior, recovery procedures, and evidence of consequential actions.
The preferred production architecture shall assign each task to the role best able to perform it safely, reliably, affordably, and accountably.
