21. Design for Manufacturability Philosophy
Every System05 product shall be designed with explicit consideration of how it can be produced consistently, safely, affordably, measurably, and at the intended scale.
Design for Manufacturability shall evaluate:
- Available materials.
- candidate processes.
- factory capability.
- machine access.
- tooling.
- workholding.
- datum strategy.
- tolerances.
- inspection.
- joining.
- surface treatment.
- handling.
- packaging.
- expected production volume.
- regional production capability.
Manufacturability shall not be evaluated only under ideal laboratory conditions. The design shall account for representative material variation, tool wear, operator variation, environmental conditions, equipment capability, supply availability, and measurement uncertainty.
A design shall avoid unnecessary:
Precision.
