8. Standardized Interfaces and Independent Implementations

System05 shall standardize the portions of a product that must interact predictably with other products, tools, inspectors, robots, digital systems, and lifecycle processes.
The standardized Interface may include:
- Physical geometry.
- Datum features.
- Alignment and capture features.
- Load-transfer surfaces.
- Connection states.
- Locking behavior.
- Sealing boundaries.
- Tool-access zones.
- Inspection-access zones.
- Identification locations.
- Robotic engagement features.
- Electrical or data contacts.
- Permitted materials or surface conditions.
- Tolerance and measurement rules.
- Failure and release behavior.
Manufacturers shall remain free to develop independent implementations behind the standardized Interface boundary.
Independent implementation may include proprietary:
- Internal geometry.
- Material distribution.
- Manufacturing process.
- Tooling.
- process sequence.
- software.
- production cell design.
- internal reinforcement.
- non-Interface features.
Freedom of implementation shall be limited where an internal choice affects declared external behavior, structural capacity, fire resistance, durability, electromagnetic behavior, sealing, inspectability, repairability, or compatibility.
Interface conformance shall be evaluated using common reference definitions and controlled measurement methods. A component shall not be declared compatible solely because it can be physically forced into engagement.
Compatibility shall require correct:
- Approach.
- Alignment.
- Capture.
- seating.
- locking.
- load transfer.
- sealing where applicable.
- inspection.
- release or disassembly behavior.
- Temporary engagement shall remain distinct from completed and accepted connection.
Adapters may connect different Interface versions or product systems when their transformation behavior, capacity, tolerance effects, inspection requirements, and limitations are explicitly defined.
A proprietary implementation shall not modify Interface semantics while retaining the same Interface identity or version. Behavior-changing revisions shall receive a new governed designation.
