87. Inspection Requirements

Inspection Requirements define what shall be examined, measured, tested, or verified to determine conformity and condition.
Each Inspection Requirement shall define:
inspected Entity;
inspection purpose;
lifecycle stage;
inspected features;
method;
access;
instruments;
acceptance criteria;
frequency;
inspector qualification;
evidence format;
response to failure.

Inspection may be:
visual;
dimensional;
functional;
nondestructive;
sensor-based;
robotic;
destructive sample testing;
document review.
Statements such as “inspect connection” shall be insufficient for critical conditions. The required observable feature and limit shall be defined.
Inaccessible features shall require an alternative verified inspection method.
