78. Engineering Profiles

An Engineering Profile is a coordinated set of engineering requirements, assumptions, methods, default values, evidence rules, and permitted options applicable to a defined design or implementation context.
Engineering Profiles may address:
structural design;
materials;
envelope performance;
electrical systems;
fluid systems;
fire safety;
manufacturing;
robotics;
inspection;
maintenance;
lifecycle;
cybersecurity.
Each Engineering Profile shall define:
Profile ID;
issuing authority;
version;
scope;
applicable Entity Types;
mandatory rules;
recommended provisions;
optional provisions;
prohibited conditions;
assumptions;
evidence requirements;
compatibility requirements;
exceptions.

- A Profile shall not conceal its design basis or jurisdictional limitations.
- BDL shall record the exact Profile versions used for compilation and approval.
