Section 32 of 102
31. Building Placement and Orientation
Stable section ID: S05-CON-007-SECTION-32 · 42 content blocks
Building Placement defines the position and orientation of a building within the Site coordinate system.
The placement declaration shall include:
building reference point;
parent Site coordinate system;
translation;
rotation;
elevation;
true-north relationship;
project-north relationship;
vertical datum;
placement status;
survey accuracy;
placement evidence.
Example:
placement House_001_Placement {
entity: @House_001;
parent_coordinates: @Site_CS;
reference_point: @Building_Origin;
translation: [18.250 m, 12.600 m, 0.450 m];
rotation_about_z: 18 deg;
vertical_datum: @Survey_Datum_001;
status: as_designed;
}
BDL shall distinguish among:
proposed placement;
permitted placement;
staked placement;
surveyed foundation placement;
As-Built placement;
- current verified placement.
- True north, magnetic north, project north, and drawing-page orientation shall not be treated as equivalent.
Building orientation may affect:
solar exposure;
wind demand;
drainage;
access;
utility routing;
passive heating and cooling;
robotic construction access;
façade configuration.
Mirroring a building configuration shall be treated as a geometric transformation with potential engineering consequences. It shall not be permitted as an informal graphical operation.
A placement change shall trigger validation of setbacks, site access, utilities, environmental exposure, foundations, solar orientation, and applicable Regional Engineering Profiles.
