72. Performance Requirements

Performance Requirements define measurable outcomes that shall be achieved under specified conditions.
Performance categories may include:
structural behavior;
energy;
thermal comfort;
air quality;
acoustics;
water use;
electrical efficiency;
durability;
reliability;
maintainability;
assembly time;
robotic readiness;
recovery time;
affordability.
Each Performance Requirement shall define:
metric;
subject;
target;
minimum or maximum threshold;
operating condition;
measurement period;
test or calculation method;
permitted uncertainty;
verification stage;
evidence.

Performance may be declared at several levels:
Component;
Assembly;
system;
Zone;
complete building.
Component-level performance shall not automatically establish whole-building performance where joints, penetrations, controls, installation, or system interaction affect the result.
Performance targets shall distinguish:
design target;
minimum acceptance value;
commissioned result;
current measured result;
degraded limit;
end-of-life threshold.
